Custom Leather Strap for Cartier Tank Must
Need help measuring? Open the sizing guide
1. Find your watch's lug width
The lug width is the gap between the two lugs where the strap attaches. Most watches list this in their specs — common sizes are 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm.
If your watch isn't listed: measure the gap with a millimetre ruler, or note the existing strap's width near the spring bars. Round to the nearest whole millimetre.
2. Measure your wrist
Wrap a piece of string, ribbon, or paper strip around your wrist where the watch sits. Mark where the end overlaps. Lay it flat and measure the marked length in cm or inches.
Tip: Measure with a comfortable fit — not too tight. The strap will sit at this length, with the buckle on the underside of your wrist.
3. Find your strap length
Each strap length on this product is shown as two numbers, e.g. 75/115mm: the buckle-side cut and the tail-side cut, both measured from the watch lugs. Use the calculator below to find your size — it reads the actual sizes available for this strap and recommends the closest match.
Calculate your strap length
Enter your wrist size and your watch's lug-to-lug distance — we'll recommend the matching strap length and you can apply it with one click.
This is a recommendation only. Custom straps are not fully refundable. To protect against fit issues, measure the short and long pieces of your current best-fitting strap with a ruler and use those numbers if they differ from the recommendation.
Need a custom length not on the list? Pick the closest size and write your exact requirement in the Notes field at the bottom of the configurator — we cut to spec. The buckle has multiple holes, so being within a few millimeters of the calculator's recommendation is fine.
Upload a clear photo of your buckle (top + side view if possible). JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP, up to 20 MB.
We need this to size the bund pad correctly. Measure the watch case from edge to edge (not including the crown).
We do our best to match the thread to your leather, but exact matches aren't always possible — natural variations in leather and thread dye lots mean the result may be very close, not 100% identical.
Custom strap length selected — please tell us the exact length here (e.g. 110/175 mm = 110mm keeper end / 175mm tail end).

Common questions
Your Cartier clasp
Will this strap work with my original Cartier deployant clasp?
Yes — that's exactly what we build for. Choose "Build for my Cartier deployant" in the configurator and we cut both strap ends to seat in your original clasp, so you keep the buckle you already own.
Most aftermarket straps ship with a pin buckle that orphans your Cartier deployant. We don't. For listed Tank Must references we already know the clasp clamp width — nothing to measure. For an unlisted or vintage reference, we'll ask you for the clamp width (with a simple measuring guide) before production.
What if I don't have the Cartier deployant, or want a spare?
We can source a Cartier-style deployant clasp for you — select "Cartier-style deployant (we supply)" in the configurator. You can also choose a standard pin buckle from our buckle options if you prefer a traditional buckle-and-tang strap.
Reference & fit
How do I know which Tank Must reference and lug width I have?
Modern Tank Must (2021+ relaunch): Small is 16mm at the lugs (WSTA0042 / WSTA0046), Large is 19mm (WSTA0041 / WSTA0040), XL is 23mm (WSTA0053 / WSTA0054). SolarBeat shares the Large (19mm) and XL (23mm) sizes. Just pick your size above.
Vintage Tank Must / Tank Must Vermeil (1977–1996) varies by reference — email a side-profile photo and we'll confirm the lug width before you order.
Does the strap use Cartier's quick-release system?
Modern Tank Must (2021+) has a discreet quick-release groove cut into the case lug for tool-less strap swaps — our straps ship with quick-release spring bars compatible with it. Vintage Tank Must uses standard spring bars and a normal spring-bar-tool install. Tell us your reference when ordering, or send a photo and we'll fit the correct bars.
I have a vintage or unlisted Cartier reference — how do I order?
Pick "Other reference" as your size. Email us a side-profile photo of your watch showing the lug-to-case joint, plus the case-back if the reference is printed. If you're using your own deployant, measure the internal clamp width where the strap seats (we'll send a guide) and add it in the notes. We confirm fitment within one business day before cutting.
My wrist is larger or smaller than standard — can you accommodate?
Yes. Every strap is cut to your measurement, with custom length from 5.0" through 12" wrist at no extra charge — long-wrist Tank Must owners are a size Cartier's own straps don't offer. Use our Bespoke Fit Calculator, or enter your wrist measurement in the notes and we'll size it for you.
