Not every Black Bay is 22mm

Tudor uses several lug widths across the Black Bay family, and ordering by family name instead of by reference is how people end up with the wrong strap. The Black Bay 58 and 58 GMT are 20mm. The 41mm Black Bay, the Black Bay GMT and the Chronograph are 22mm. The Black Bay 36 is 19mm, and the Black Bay Bronze is 23mm — a width almost no strap maker stocks. Check your exact reference; we cut to any width from 8mm to 30mm, with no upcharge for the odd sizes.

Custom fit and leather options

Fit options off-the-shelf straps can't give you:

  • Pelagos FXD — fixed bars — the FXD has no spring bars, so a conventional two-piece strap can't be threaded onto it. Our open-ended straps open around the fixed bar and lock with a small flat screw, so you get a proper two-piece leather strap that sits flat, without removing the bar. Cut to 22mm and to your wrist, in any of our leathers.
  • Black Bay Bronze at 23mm — cut to the exact width, so the strap fills the lugs instead of leaving a 22mm strap rattling in a 23mm gap.
  • Black Bay and Pelagos on larger wrists — sized with our extra-long straps, up to 125/185mm for wrists to 12".
  • Vintage Tudor and Clair de Rose — narrow widths from 12mm, short lengths from 55/100mm for wrists down to 5.0".
  • Reuse your Tudor buckle — pick “use your own buckle,” send a photo, and we punch the strap to fit it.

Which leather suits your Tudor

Diver and tool (Black Bay, Pelagos, Black Bay GMT) — shark, stingray, ostrich leg or crocodile, usually 20–23mm.

Heritage and patina (Black Bay Bronze, Heritage, Ranger) — Buttero, Barenia or Badalassi wax: veg-tanned leathers that darken and patina alongside a bronze case.

Dress (1926, Glamour, Clair de Rose) — shell cordovan, Epsom or lizard, usually 15–21mm.

A note on water: leather straps are made for everyday dry wear. If you swim or dive in your Tudor, switch to rubber or fabric and keep the leather for dry land.

Can you make a leather strap for the Pelagos FXD? Yes. The FXD has fixed bars instead of spring bars, so a conventional strap can't be fitted. We cut an open-ended strap whose ends open around the fixed bar and lock with a small flat screw — a real two-piece leather strap at 22mm, sized to your wrist, that sits flatter than the pass-through fabric strap the watch ships on.

What lug width is the Tudor Black Bay 58? 20mm — and so is the Black Bay 58 GMT. The larger 41mm Black Bay and the 41mm GMT are 22mm. It's the most common Tudor sizing mistake.

What about the Black Bay Bronze? 23mm. It's an unusual size and most makers skip it; we cut it as a standard width with no upcharge.

Vintage Tudor — Oyster Prince, Ranger, Prince Date? Yes. Vintage cases often run narrow (18–20mm, sometimes less) and want a thinner, flatter profile; tell us the reference or send a photo and we'll size it.
