21mm Strap for a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Memovox
Share
Twenty-one millimeters is the width that empties a shop. Every rack runs 20 and 22, and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Memovox reference Q1418430 sits between them. The customer said so on the order in plain words — “I have a JLC Memovox 21 mm lug width” — and that single number is why a 21mm strap for a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Memovox has to be cut rather than bought.

Why these choices

An odd lug width is not a rounding error to be squeezed past. A 20 mm strap in a 21 mm gap rattles and wears the lug holes; a 22 mm forced in bows the leather and marks the case. Our configurator runs 8 to 30 mm precisely so a number like this is an option rather than a compromise, and the strap is cut to 21 mm at the case end before it tapers away.
Babele is a Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather that ages rather than staying put, and taupe brown is a restrained reading of it — the right register for a dress complication where the alarm, not the strap, is meant to be the interesting part. Matching side stitching and a tapered tip keep the outline clean, and the strap runs down to an 18 mm buckle width so the deployant sits narrower than the lugs.
The clasp is an Omega-style deployant with the premium folding upgrade. On a 7.35 inch wrist a deployant also changes how the length is used: the strap folds rather than tucking, so the 75/125 mm split is set for that behavior rather than for a pin buckle.

★★★★★
“…a recently purchased vintage JLC piece. It has a difficult to find 17 mm lug width and I had tried out a few colours and styles from my own supply. I am impressed by the quality of the work and the precision matching the lugs.”

Questions we get about this build
Do I really need a 21mm strap for a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Memovox, or will 20mm do?
Order the width your lugs actually measure. A millimeter of slack shows as a visible gap at the case and lets the strap pivot, which is what chews spring bar holes over time. Measure the gap between the inside faces of the lugs and use that figure.
Can a strap be made with curved spring bars?
Curved bars belong with our custom curved-end straps, which are cut on an arc for watches with curved lugs and ship with curved bars in the width you choose — though we still recommend reusing your watch's original bars where you can. The strap above was built as a straight-end 21 mm with quick-release bars, so it changes without a tool.
Odd widths are ordinary here — the form takes any width from 8 to 30 mm. Start on the custom leather watch strap page, browse Babele leather straps, or open the taupe brown Babele Linen strap used here. Made to order — allow 2-3 weeks to delivery.
