Ostrich Leg Watch Strap for Kurono Tokyo
Share
Kurono Tokyo watches sell in small numbered runs and disappear within minutes of release, so owners tend to hold on to them — and to think hard about what they sit on. An order from Pennsylvania asked us to build a black ostrich leg strap for a Kurono Tokyo, cut to 75/115mm with quick-release spring bars, so the watch could move between straps without tools.
| Watch | Kurono Tokyo |
| Leather | Black ostrich leg |
| Strap length | 75/115mm |
| Buckle | Classic, stainless steel, 16mm |
| Spring bars | Quick release |
| Stitching | Side stitching, black |
| Build | With padding, tapered tip |
Why these choices
Ostrich leg is a different material from the round-skin ostrich most people picture. Round-skin ostrich carries quill bumps from feather follicles; leg leather is the scaled section of the hide, with a plated pattern that runs in narrow rows down the strap. On a dress watch it reads closer to a fine exotic than to anything rugged, which is why it keeps showing up on orders for small-batch Japanese pieces.
The rest of the build stays quiet on purpose. Black side stitching over black leather gives the edge some definition without adding contrast, and the padded, tapered profile keeps the strap from overpowering a slim case. A 16mm Classic buckle in stainless matches the restrained hardware Kurono owners tend to prefer.
Quick-release spring bars were the practical call here. When a watch is this hard to replace, most owners rotate straps rather than wear one into the ground, and quick release makes the swap a fingernail job instead of a spring-bar-tool job.

★★★★★
“Fits … perfectly and complements the overall look and feel of the timepiece. I also find it much more comfortable in the hot weather than the standard hypoallergenic straps that seem to accompany most watches these days.”

Questions from Kurono owners
Is an ostrich leg strap for Kurono Tokyo watches too bold?
No. The scale pattern is fine and low-relief, and in black it reads as texture rather than pattern. It dresses the watch up the way lizard or crocodile would, with a grain most people cannot immediately place.
What lug width should I order?
