Extra-Long Strap for MeisterSinger No. 3
Most strap makers stop at 8.5 inches. That is where this customer's wrist starts, so a standard strap for a MeisterSinger No. 3 leaves the tail too short to reach a comfortable hole — and a single-hand watch on a strap that only just closes is not a watch you keep wearing. The fix was a brown crocodile strap cut to 90/145 mm, padded and tapered, running on the buckle the customer already owned.

Why these choices
An extra-long strap is not a normal strap with extra holes punched in it. The two sides are cut longer from the start: 90 mm and 145 mm here, 235 mm (9.25 in) of leather in total, which puts the buckle where it belongs on an 8.5-inch wrist instead of hard against the lug. Our extra-long range covers 8.5 to 12 inches, which is the ground most makers leave empty.
Padding is doing real work on a long strap. Without it, a 145 mm tail flattens and curls at the tip; the padding holds the section that wraps the wrist and lets the taper down to 18 mm (0.71 in) look deliberate rather than like leather running out. Side stitching matched to the leather keeps the seam quiet, which suits crocodile — the hide softens and takes a hand-rubbed patina, and a contrast thread would only compete with the scales as that patina develops.
The customer kept the original buckle, so the strap was cut to 18 mm at the buckle end to match it. That is the buckle width, not the lug width. Spring bars were specified as quick release, so the strap comes off without a tool — worth having when a strap is this long and gets rotated between watches.
