Why these choices
The whole point of this build is length. At 90/145 mm it suits a wrist around 8.5 to 9 inches, where a standard strap forces the wearer onto the last hole with the tail flapping or barely reaching. Cutting the short and long sides to the customer's measured 22 cm wrist puts the buckle back in the center, which is where it should sit on a watch this size.
Crocodile is the natural dress leather for a Portugieser, and a dark blue croc was chosen to echo the IW371605's blue dial rather than default to black. Croc and alligator come from the same hide family; a full-grain skin like this softens with wear and develops a hand-rubbed patina, so the strap will look better in a year than it does new.
We fitted a curved-style stainless buckle to match the case hardware and standard spring bars for tool removal, which is the sensible choice on a chronograph that does not need frequent strap changes. The result is a strap that solves a real fit problem first and looks the part second.
