Extra-Long Badalassi Strap for a Timex Waterbury
Share
A 39 mm chronograph on a large wrist has a specific problem: the watch is proportioned fine, but every strap sold for it runs out of leather. This order solved it with an extra-long strap for a Timex Waterbury Heritage Chronograph — cognac Badalassi Wax, cut at 105/160 mm. The customer gave the band width on the order sheet: 20 mm.

Why these choices

Badalassi Wax is a wax pull-up vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany, and cognac is the color that shows what it does best. Pull-up means the wax moves when the leather is flexed, so the strap lightens at the bend and settles back darker — the finish is not printed on, it is in the hide. On a heritage-styled chronograph that aging is the point rather than a side effect.
The length is doing the real work. Extra-long straps are built for wrists in the 8.5 to 12 inch range, and 105/160 mm sits high in that band — 265 mm of leather in total. The split matters as much as the sum: the long side is the tail that runs through the keepers, so a wearer who needs reach gets it there rather than in a longer hole run near the case.
An 18 mm buckle under 20 mm lugs gives the strap a taper, which keeps a long strap from looking slab-sided. The gold buckle follows the watch's case tone rather than the leather. This customer ordered two straps to the same length on the same day, for two different watches — when the constraint is the wrist rather than the watch, the number carries across the collection.

★★★★★
“The strap has a really nice weight and feel to it… it definitely feels better than the stock strap that came on the watch. The stitching looks solid and the tolerances for measurement were very well done.”

Questions we get about this build
What length is an extra-long strap for a Timex Waterbury?
There is no single answer — it follows your wrist, not the watch. This build ran 105/160 mm for a wrist past the point where standard straps give up. Measure around the wrist bone and order from that number.
Will cognac Badalassi Wax darken?
It will. Wax pull-up veg-tan deepens with handling and sunlight, so the strap you wear in a year will be a shade or two off the one that arrives. That is the material behaving normally.
Long straps are cut from the same hides as everything else — they just need a larger panel, which is why they are made to order. See the Badalassi Wax range, browse extra-long watch straps, or open the cognac Badalassi strap used here. Made to order — allow 2-3 weeks to delivery.
