Epsom Leather Strap for a 24mm Hermes Sellier

A 24 mm watch is small enough that every millimeter of strap either flatters it or swamps it. This order from South Korea was for a white Epsom leather strap for an Hermes Sellier in the 24 mm size, cut very short at 65/105 mm and finished to fit the owner's own buckle at 10 mm.

Why these choices

Epsom is the obvious leather here and for once the obvious answer is the right one. It is a stamped-grain calfskin — the same leather used on Hermes bags — which makes it light, structured and noticeably scratch-resistant. On a 24 mm case that structure is doing real work: a soft, floppy leather at this width would collapse into a shoelace, while Epsom holds a crisp edge even when the strap is only 10 mm across at the buckle.

The customer's instruction was about proportion rather than specification. They asked us to make the thickness best suited to the watch — slim or lightly padded, whichever we thought would look most proportional and preserve the original look. On a case this small that means slim. Padding adds height, and height on a 24 mm watch makes it sit up off the wrist and read as bulkier than it is. A thin, evenly cut strap keeps the case low and lets the watch stay the small, precise object it was designed to be.

The length is the other half. At 65/105 mm this is one of the shortest builds we make, and it exists because standard straps do not scale down — a 10 mm strap cut to an average length has a tail long enough to wrap most of the way round again. The buckle here is the customer's own, so the strap ships without one and was cut to take it.

Can you make an Epsom strap for an Hermes Sellier in a narrow width?
Yes. Our configurator covers lug widths from 8 mm to 30 mm, so the small sizes that most makers stop short of are ordinary work here. Measure between the lugs and give us that number — it is not the same as your buckle width.

Will white leather stay white?
Epsom is the best-behaved white we stock: the stamped grain resists surface scuffing and the finish wipes clean. It will still pick up color from a dark shirt cuff over time, as any pale leather does.
