Curved-End Strap for the Rolex 1908
Share
The Rolex 1908 is a thin dress case with lugs that turn down toward the wrist. Fit a flat-ended strap and the band meets the case on a tangent, which shows as a gap at the twelve and six positions and makes a slim watch sit high. This order asked for a curved-end strap for the Rolex 1908 in black crocodile, cut to the owner's own length rather than a stock size.

Why these choices

The curved end is the reason this strap exists. The end is cut on an arc that follows the underside of the lug, so the leather meets the case along its whole width instead of touching at one point. It is worth saying what this is not: a curved end is not an integrated strap. An integrated strap is shaped into one particular case and fits nothing else. A curved end suits any watch with curved lugs, which is a much larger set of watches than most people assume.
The length was specified rather than chosen from the menu: 65mm on the buckle side, 110mm on the holes side. That is shorter than a standard cut on both halves, and cutting both is what keeps the buckle centered under the wrist. Shortening only the tail moves the buckle off-center and the strap never sits square.
Flat padding and a black side stitch keep the profile down. The 1908 is a thin watch and a padded strap would undo that. Crocodile carries the formality on its own — it softens with wear and takes a hand-rubbed patina, so it does not need contrast thread to look considered. The customer also asked for a pin buckle rather than a deployant, which is the lighter and more traditional choice on a dress case.

Two questions we get about this build
Do I need a curved-end strap for the Rolex 1908? Take the bracelet off and look at the watch from the side. If the lug undersides sweep down, a curved end will close the gap that a flat strap leaves. If you are not sure, send us a side-on photo before you order and we will tell you which way to go.
Should I use the curved bars you send or my own? We ship curved spring bars in the width you order, but we recommend the watch's original bars if you still have them. They are made for that case and seat more securely.
