Leather Cuff Watch Strap for Fossil JR9007
Share
The Fossil JR9007 came on a wide leather cuff, and when that cuff wears out there is no standard replacement that fits the square case and the 26mm (1.02 in) gap between the lugs. A customer in Washington State sent us a sketch and photos of his original cuff, and we built a new one-piece cuff in T-Moro Maya leather that follows the same overall shape, sized for a 6.75 in wrist.

Why these choices

Copying the shape, not the decoration. The pattern came from two things the customer sent: a hand sketch and photos of the original Fossil cuff. We kept the overall outline the same so the watch sits where he is used to it, but at his request the new cuff is plain. The original had woven strands and layers; this one is a single piece of leather with no weaving and no layering. At 38mm wide and 235mm long, the cuff is far wider than the case itself, which is the point of a cuff: the leather does most of the visual work.
Tabs instead of a strap through the lugs. A conventional two-piece strap would need to match the 26mm lug gap at full width. On this build the watch rides on two 25mm tabs sewn onto the cuff, set 39mm apart, measured spring bar to spring bar. Getting that spacing right is what lets the case sit flat on the cuff instead of tilting, so we worked from the customer's numbers rather than estimating from photos.
Reusing the original buckle. The customer kept his Fossil buckle. From the bench: we confirm the buckle's inside width before cutting the end, because the strap end has to fit that specific buckle, not one of ours. Two 8mm keepers hold the tail.
Why Maya. Maya is a dyed-through, matte Italian vegetable-tanned leather, and it shows natural color variation across the hide. T-Moro is a dark brown, and the creamy white stitching outlines the cuff's shape. More colors are in our Maya leather watch straps and brown leather watch straps.

★★★★★
“A perfect fit to the watch, the clasp and me. It is rugged but elegant and very comfortable.”
