Blue Alran goat corner-notched watch strap for Casio Oceanus T6000

Corner-Notched Strap for the Casio Oceanus T6000

The Casio Oceanus T6000 is an integrated-bracelet design, which means a standard band cannot simply be threaded between the lugs and called done. The strap end has to be cut back at the corners so it drops into the case opening flush. This order came in with the three measurements already taken and a request to expedite — a returning customer who knew exactly what he wanted the second time around.

Why these choices

A corner-notched cut takes two square bites out of the strap end so the remaining tongue sits inside the case recess while the shoulders tuck under the lugs. Get it 0.5mm wrong in either direction and you either cannot seat the strap or you can see daylight at the corner. This is the same pattern we cut for the Cartier Santos, and it is why we ask for jeweler-measured figures rather than numbers read off a caliper at arm's length.

Alran goat is a good choice for a case like this. Goat has a finer grain than cowhide and is softer, so it takes the tight radius at the notch without the cut edge bulking up. A stiffer leather fights the corner and lifts. The blue keeps it from reading as a replacement part.

From the bench: the team sent the strap-change tool along with this order, so the notched ends can be seated without levering against the case.

“(1) Take a full metal square G-Shock (I have a GW-5000 here). (2) Remove the plastic shroud and strap. (3) Ad one of these fantastic straps in shark skin and perfectly notched from vgreenco. Result: Perfection :-)”

Two questions we get about this build

How do I measure for a corner-notched strap for the Casio Oceanus T6000? A is the full width across the case opening, B is the width of the tongue that drops into it, and C is how deep the notch is cut. Measure with the bracelet off and the spring bars out. If you are unsure, a jeweler will take all three in a couple of minutes, and that is cheaper than a strap that does not seat.

Can you work from photos instead? Photos help us sanity-check the shape, but we still need the numbers. A photo cannot tell us whether the recess is 10.5mm or 11mm, and that half-millimeter is the whole job.

Send us your measurements on the custom corner-notched strap page, see the full range of custom notched straps, or browse blue leather watch straps. Every notched strap is cut to order — allow 2–3 weeks to delivery.
