The 14mm above is the buckle end of the strap. No lug width was specified on this order, and buckle width and lug width are not the same measurement.

Why these choices

The customer gave one number that does most of the work here: a case diameter of roughly 34mm. On a two-piece strap the case size barely matters, since only the lug width has to agree. On a bund it matters a great deal, because the pad is cut around the case and the proportion between the two is the whole look. Cut the pad too generously and a 34mm watch disappears into it; cut it tight and the pad reads as a mistake rather than a choice. This is why a bund order is worth asking about the case, not just the lugs.

Black Alran is a goat leather, which is a finer grain and softer than cowhide. That softness earns its place on a bund specifically, because the pad is a second layer of leather sitting against the wrist all day rather than a band that only touches at the edges. The gold buckle against black is an era-appropriate pairing for a mid-century dress watch, and at 14mm it stays proportionate to a case this size instead of dominating it.

The 70/115mm split and regular spring bars both point the same direction.
