Why these choices
Ostrich leg is a different leather from the more familiar round-skin ostrich. Instead of raised quill bumps, the leg skin carries a fine scaled grain that runs in natural rows, closer to a subtle reptile pattern than to dotted ostrich. The stonewash finish softens the gray into a muted, slightly weathered tone, which is an unusual but fitting choice against the polished case of a Cellinissima: textured enough to be interesting, restrained enough to stay dressy.
Cellini owners almost always want to keep the signed Rolex buckle, so the own-buckle build is the sensible route. We cut the buckle end to 14 mm to seat his hardware and shipped the strap without a buckle of our own. The 14 mm figure is the tail width, not the watch's lug width, which we measure separately. We cut the body to 70/115 mm for a standard wrist and fitted regular spring bars.
