Lizard Strap for the Cartier Tank Solo (20.5mm)
The Cartier Tank Solo Large takes a 20.5mm strap — a half-millimeter width almost nobody stocks, on a watch that deserves better than a forced 20mm fit. This order from Ontario was for exactly that watch, a Tank Solo Large in 18k gold (ref. W1018855), and asked us to cut a black lizard strap to the width the case actually calls for.

Why these choices
A 20.5mm width is not a typo, and we never round it to one. Cartier uses in-between widths on several Tank cases, and when an order arrives with a half-millimeter spec we treat it as a routing instruction: this is a strap that has to be cut to measure, not picked from a wall. The taper from 20.5mm down to 16mm at the tail was the customer's call as well, and it suits the proportions of a Tank — a wide stance at the case, a slim wrap around the wrist.
The one thing nobody makes is a 20.5mm quick-release spring bar, and the owner knew it — the order notes ask for both 20mm and 21mm bars to test which sits better in this case. So that is what shipped: one strap, two bar sizes, fit decided on the wrist rather than guessed at the bench.
Lizard is the dressiest exotic we cut, with fine scales that suit smaller dials, and at 2mm thick this strap keeps the low profile a gold Tank asks for. It is the natural pick when the watch is the jewelry and the strap's job is to frame it.
