Extra-Long Curved-End Strap for the JLC Polaris
Share
This order had two problems stacked on top of each other. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris 40mm has curved lugs, so a flat-ended strap leaves a gap under the case. And the wearer needed 90/145mm, which is past where most makers stop. The result is an extra-long curved-end strap for the JLC Polaris in dark blue crocodile — two custom operations on one band.

Why these choices

Take the length first, because it is the harder constraint. Our extra-long straps are cut for wrists from 8.5 to 12 inches, and most of the trade stops at 8.5. That is why people with larger wrists end up wearing the last hole with the tail sticking out past the keeper, or buying a longer strap in a leather they did not want. At 90/145mm this one has holes to spare and the tail lands where it should.
The curved end solves the other half. The end is cut on an arc so it follows the lug curve instead of bridging it. This is not an integrated strap — an integrated strap is shaped into one specific case design and fits nothing else. A curved end works on any watch with curved lugs. The order asked for curved spring bars and we supplied them in the ordered width, though we still recommend the watch's original bars where they are available.
Dark blue crocodile is a quieter choice than it sounds. On a 40mm sports case the scale pattern gives the strap enough presence to hold its own against a steel bezel, while the depth of the blue keeps it from competing with the dial. Crocodile softens with wear and takes a hand-rubbed patina, so a long strap that gets flexed at every hole ages better than a stiff one would.

★★★★★
“These guys knocked it out of the park again. This ostrich strap is fetching on my JLC. I have now purchased a half dozen or so straps from this company, and I will not be led astray to another supplier.”

Two questions we get about this build
What length do I need for an extra-long curved-end strap for the JLC Polaris? Measure your wrist with a tape at the point you wear the watch. Anything past 8.5 inches (216mm) is extra-long territory. Send the number and we will split it between the two halves rather than just lengthening the tail.
Will the curved end fit any Polaris? It is cut to the curve you tell us about, so it fits the case you order it for. If you are unsure of the lug shape, send a side-on photo with the bracelet removed and we will read it before cutting.
