Why these choices

Ostrich leg is worth separating from ostrich body, because the two look nothing alike. Body ostrich is the round skin with the raised follicle pattern; ostrich leg is the scaled leg, and its grain runs in irregular plates down the length of the strap. That directional grain is the reason it works here. A Heritage 300 has a lot of visual weight, and a leather with structure in the surface reads as deliberate next to it, where a smooth calf can look like a placeholder.

Moss green is the quieter half of the decision. Green on a black-and-steel diver could easily tip into costume, so the choice of a muted, earthy green rather than a bright one keeps the strap in a supporting role.
