That tension is the point of this one.

Black pulls in the opposite direction, and it ties the strap to the black deployant at the other end so the two hard elements bracket the color.

The deployant is worth a note of its own. An 18 mm folding clasp means the strap does not thread back through keepers every time it goes on, so the leather takes far less bending stress at the same point — which matters more on an exotic skin than on plain calf, because a scaled surface will show a hard crease sooner. It also keeps the tail from crossing the yellow with a second layer of leather. The round tip and the padded build finish the shape.
