Open-Ended Strap for Tudor Pelagos 42: Black Crocodile
Share
An order from Virginia came in for a Tudor Pelagos 42, reference M25717N-0001 — a watch whose strap bars are machined into the case rather than held by removable spring bars. A standard two-piece strap cannot thread onto bars like that, which is exactly the problem an open-ended strap for a Tudor Pelagos solves: the strap ends are left open so they wrap around the fixed bars and secure back on themselves.

Why these choices
Open-ended construction is the deciding spec here. On most watches you remove the spring bars, slide a strap through, and reinstall. When the bars are fixed, that route is closed — so each end of this strap stays open, threads under the bar, folds back, and fastens to itself. It is the same approach we use for vintage military pieces with soldered bars, applied to a modern dive watch. If your watch has bars that do not come out, our custom open-ended straps are built for exactly that situation.
Black crocodile is an unexpected direction for a tool watch, and that is rather the point. Crocodile softens with wear and develops a hand-rubbed patina, so the strap dresses the Pelagos down the line without fighting its utilitarian case. Matching black side stitching keeps the look quiet; the taper toward the tapered tip end slims the strap visually under the cuff. You can see more builds in this hide in our crocodile leather watch strap collection, or browse black leather watch straps across every leather we carry.
The 75/115mm length is shorter than our standard cut. Open-ended straps consume extra length wrapping the bars, and the wearer sized this one so the buckle and keepers sit centered on the wrist — a measurement worth taking before ordering rather than guessing.

★★★★★
“These straps fix the issue with NATO straps, which sit higher than regular spring bar lugged bracelets and straps. Vgreen also makes my Pelagos FXD GMT into a watch I can wear a suit with…”

Common questions
Will an open-ended strap for a Tudor Pelagos fit without modification?
Yes. The open ends wrap the fixed bars directly, so nothing on the watch is removed or altered. Choose the strap width to match the gap between the lugs — this order used a 20mm buckle with the strap sized to the case.
Can I get a different leather in this construction?
Any leather we carry can be built open-ended. The construction is configured on the product page; leather, stitching, length, and buckle are chosen the same way as on our standard custom leather watch straps.
Every strap is made to order — allow 2–3 weeks to delivery. If your watch has fixed bars and a wrist measurement in hand, the configurator covers the rest.
