Ocean Blue Crocodile Strap for the Patek Philippe 5905R
The Patek Philippe 5905R is a rose gold annual calendar chronograph, and it comes on Patek’s own strap with Patek’s own buckle. This order from Alabama kept the buckle and replaced everything above it: ocean blue crocodile, 75/125 mm, cut to a 16 mm buckle end and fitted with quick-release bars.

Why these choices
Keeping the original buckle is the decision that shapes the rest of the build. A signed gold buckle is a meaningful part of what the watch is, and there is no reason to retire it just to change the leather — so the strap is cut to that buckle’s 16 mm width and ships without one of ours. Get that number wrong and the buckle either will not thread or sits loose; it is the single measurement worth double-checking before ordering.
Ocean blue is the colour a rose gold case can carry that black cannot. Black under rose gold reads as high contrast and pushes the case warm; a mid blue sits closer in tone, so the gold looks like gold rather than like a highlight. On a busy annual calendar dial, it also gives the eye somewhere quiet to land.
The leather is crocodile — the same hide family as alligator, the two names being industry synonyms rather than different animals. It softens with wear and takes a hand-rubbed patina, which is why it remains the default on dress watches at this level. Quick-release bars finish the build: on a watch that gets rotated rather than worn daily, being able to change straps without a tool near a gold case is worth more than it sounds.
