Extra-Long Strap for Timex Expedition: Cognac Badalassi
The Timex Expedition is a field watch built to be worn hard, but its stock strap runs out of holes on a large wrist. This order from Wisconsin was for an 8.75 in (222 mm) wrist, beyond where most strap makers stop, so we built an extra-long strap for the Timex Expedition in cognac Badalassi Wax at 90/145 mm.

Why these choices
The length. Most strap makers stop at 8.5 in, and our extra-long watch straps run from 8.5 to 12 in. For an 8.75 in wrist we went to 90 mm on the buckle side and 145 mm on the tail side. Adding length on both halves, rather than only stretching the tail, keeps the watch head centered on top of the wrist instead of drifting toward one side, and it leaves holes on either side of the one the wearer actually uses.
The fit worry. The order notes said the wrist had been measured a few times and there was still a worry it would come out too small. That is a common concern on extra-long orders, and the honest answer is that a careful wrist measurement is what makes it work. We build to the length on the order, so a measurement taken snug with a soft tape, and checked twice, is worth more than any rule of thumb.
The leather. Badalassi Wax is a wax pull-up vegetable-tanned leather. On a field watch like the Expedition, the cognac color sits naturally next to a utilitarian dial and reads as a step up from the stock strap without looking out of place on a weekend hike or at a desk.
