Extra-Long Crocodile Strap for a Seiko 7S26

The 7S26 is the movement inside a long run of Seiko automatics, and the watches built around it are almost all sold on bracelets or standard-length bands. That is fine until your wrist runs past where those bands stop. This order was an extra-long strap for a Seiko 7S26 in brown crocodile, cut to 105/160mm with a 20mm rose gold buckle, which is a good deal longer than a stock strap ends.

The 20mm above is the buckle end of the strap. No lug width was specified on this order, and buckle width and lug width are not the same measurement.

Why these choices

Start with the length, because it is the reason this order exists. Most makers stop at 8.5 inches of wrist; our extra-long builds run from there up to 12 inches. At 105/160mm the two halves come to 265mm of strap in total, and that length is not something you get by punching extra holes in a standard band. Adding holes to a short strap moves the buckle past the edge of the wrist and leaves a long tail flapping under the keepers, which is the failure mode this build exists to avoid. The strap is cut long from the start instead.

Crocodile was a sensible pick for a strap this size. Crocodile and alligator are industry synonyms for the same hide family, and the scale pattern reads clearly at length rather than looking repetitive the way a small-scale grain can over 265mm. It softens with wear and takes a hand-rubbed patina, so a strap that starts fairly formal settles down over a year of daily use. Brown against a rose gold buckle keeps the pairing warm rather than making the metal look like an afterthought.

Regular spring bars were specified rather than quick-release. On a long strap that is the sturdier arrangement: quick-release tabs are convenient, but a strap carrying this much leather puts more leverage on the bar, and a tool-fitted bar has no small moving tab to work loose.

Not necessarily. The 20mm on this order is the buckle end, not a lug measurement, and we did not record a lug width for this watch. Measure the gap between your lugs yourself or have a jeweler do it, and send that figure along with the buckle size you want.
