Extra-Long Notched Sharkskin Strap for a Cronos 36mm

Two problems arrived on the same order. The watch — a Cronos 36mm automatic — needed a notch cut into the strap before it would seat in the case at all. And the wrist needed far more length than a 36mm dress-sized watch normally ships with. So this became an extra-long notched strap for a Cronos 36mm: a center notch cut to the customer's own figures, on a black sharkskin strap running 105/160 mm.

Why these choices

Look at the notch figures and you can see how carefully this watch was measured. X 23.15, Y 13.60, Z 2.82 — those are caliper readings to two decimal places, not estimates. A center-notched strap runs full width at the shoulders and steps in through the middle, so Y and Z together decide whether the tongue clears the case. At under 3 mm of depth there is no margin for rounding, which is exactly why we take the numbers the customer sends rather than converting from a nominal lug width.

The length is the other half of the story. At 105/160 mm this strap runs about 265 mm end to end, roughly 10.4 inches of leather, against a standard build of about 200 mm. Most makers stop at an 8.5 inch wrist. That leaves people with larger wrists choosing between a strap that barely reaches the buckle and a strap that fits but was never cut for their watch. Pairing extra length with a custom notch removes the choice entirely.

Black sharkskin suits this build for a practical reason rather than a decorative one. It is the toughest of the exotics we work with, with a dense, tooth-textured grain, and a long strap sees more flex and more contact against the wrist than a short one. The customer also asked for a straight cut with no taper and a new buckle included, which keeps the strap the same width from case to buckle and lets the notch remain the only shaped thing on it.

Can I order an extra-long notched strap for a Cronos 36mm, or do I have to pick one or the other?
Both at once. The notch and the length are separate choices on the same strap, so a custom notch can be cut on a strap of any length we build. Send the notch measurements and your wrist size together and the strap is cut once, to both.

How long is extra-long?
