Crocodile Watch Strap for a Nomos Tangente 35
Share
The Nomos Tangente 35 is a small, flat, deliberately plain watch, and most off-the-shelf straps are cut for something bigger. This one went out to an order in British Columbia: full-grain crocodile in dark blue, cut to a 75/115 mm length instead of a stock size, finished with an 18 mm buckle end.
Nothing here is exotic for its own sake. Each line on the order form solves a proportion problem that a standard strap creates on a 35 mm dress watch.

Why these choices

Crocodile and alligator are industry synonyms for the same hide family, and both soften with wear and take a hand-rubbed patina. On a watch with an almost empty dial, the scale pattern ends up being the only texture in the picture. That is the argument for an exotic on a Tangente rather than a smooth calf: it gives the wrist something to look at without adding a single line to the watch itself.
Dark blue does the same job quietly. It reads close to black across a room and clearly blue up close, which keeps a dress watch wearable with a suit without committing to a black strap.
The length is the part that matters most here. 75/115 mm is a short cut, and the two sides were specified separately rather than picked off a size chart. On a small case, a long side that runs past the keeper leaves the buckle sitting off to one side of the wrist. Cutting the long side to 115 mm puts the buckle back where it belongs and keeps the tail tucked.
One note on the 18 mm figure: that is the buckle end, not the lug end. A strap can taper between the two, and we only publish the measurement the customer actually gave us. The buckle itself is a classic stainless steel pin buckle, and the strap was built with regular spring bars rather than quick-release, so it is fitted with a spring bar tool.

“Looks and feels like what it is, a luxury hand made item. Beautiful quality and fits perfectly… The dark blue crocodile leather was an excellent choice. A truly custom product that raises my watch to a higher level.”

Two questions we get on this build
What length crocodile watch strap for a Nomos Tangente should I order?
There is no single answer, which is why length is a field on the order form and not a dropdown of small, medium and large. This one was built at 75/115 mm. Measure around your wrist from one lug to the other, then split that total between the two sides so the buckle lands centered rather than off to the side. If you fall between sizes, put your number in the order notes and we cut to it.
Can I have this hide in another color, or with a deployant clasp?
Yes. The same crocodile is stocked in a range of colors, and the configurator carries deployant styles alongside the classic pin buckle. Because every strap is built to order, the length, buckle width and hardware are all set at the time you order rather than picked from what happens to be on the shelf.

If you have a Tangente, a Club, or any other small dress watch that a stock strap overwhelms, start from the dark blue crocodile strap this one was built from, look through the rest of the crocodile leather watch straps and the blue leather straps, or specify your own in the custom leather watch strap range. Everything is made to order, so allow 2-3 weeks to delivery.
