Buttero Leather Strap for the Timex Weekender

The Timex Weekender comes on a slip-through fabric strap. It does the job, but it lifts the case off the wrist, and it never develops any character — there is nothing there to age. Why these choices

Buttero is a vegetable-tanned leather from the Walpier tannery in Tuscany. It is dense and firm when it arrives, which is exactly what a light, 38 mm watch wants — the strap holds its shape instead of collapsing under a case that weighs almost nothing. It also patinas. Six months of daily wear will darken the dark brown and put a shine on the fold behind the buckle, and on a watch bought for fun that is the point.

The 75/115 mm length is our standard run, sized so the buckle sits on the underside of the wrist rather than riding around toward the top. Quick-release spring bars were specified, so this strap goes on and off the watch by hand: pull the little lever, lift the strap, done. On a watch someone is likely to swap straps on regularly — and a Peanuts Weekender is exactly that watch — it saves getting a spring bar tool out every time.

The 16 mm buckle keeps the hardware in proportion to the case. It is worth being clear that the buckle width is the width at the tail end of the strap, not the width between the watch's lugs. Those are two different numbers on almost every strap, and mixing them up is the single most common sizing error we see.

What length should I order for a Timex Weekender? Our 75/115 mm standard fits most wrists between 6.5 and 7.75 inches. Measure around your wrist bone with a tape and tell us the number in the order notes if you are outside that range — we cut every strap to order, so a custom length costs nothing extra to specify. Wrists over 8.5 inches should look at the extra-long watch straps.

Will a Buttero leather strap for the Timex Weekender fit other 20 mm watches? Yes. The strap is cut to a lug width, not to a specific watch, so the same strap will move to any watch with the same lug width and standard spring bars.
