Why these choices
Racing straps carry racing-inspired perforations down the length — a motorsport detail that suits the Sentry's angular, instrument-like dial. Most are finished with contrast stitching, but this one deliberately is not: with no stitching at all, the perforations and the Epsom grain do the talking, and there is no thread line to compete with the steel clasp.
The keeper-less build is the clever part. As the customer put it: "no loops to hold the tail. The tail goes inside when closed." A folding clasp swallows the strap tail inside the mechanism, so traditional keepers would just sit empty — we left them off and skipped the center notch at the buckle end so the leather feeds cleanly into the clasp. Because this is a use-my-own-buckle order, the strap ships with no hardware installed; the 18mm end is sized for the customer's clasp, fitted on arrival.
Epsom is stamped-grain calfskin — the same leather Hermès uses for structured bags — light on the wrist and scratch-resistant, which matters on a daily watch that will live under jacket cuffs and across desk edges.
