We cut to the three measurements the customer supplied, which is why a jeweler-measured set of dimensions makes such a difference here: a millimeter off and the notch will not seat.

Black Epsom is the right leather for an integrated sports case. It is a stamped-grain calfskin, the same family Hermès uses for its bags, and it stays light and resists scratches, so it keeps its structure where a softer leather would slump into the notch. The fine, uniform grain also reads dressy enough for the Icon 8's polished surfaces without trying to imitate an exotic. On a watch like this the strap is part of the case design rather than an afterthought, so the fit has to be exact.
