Extra-long navy crocodile watch strap for Cartier Tank, gold buckle

Extra-Long Strap for a Cartier Tank Must

Cartier built the Tank's proportions around delicate straps in standard lengths, which leaves anyone needing more reach with almost nowhere to shop. This order from Texas is the far end of that problem: a women's Tank — identified in the owner's notes as a vermeil 9315, from before the Must line took over — with lugs the owner measured at 15mm, wearing an extra long strap for a Cartier Tank cut to 125/185mm in navy crocodile.

Watch Cartier Tank (vermeil ref. 9315, per owner's notes)
Leather Navy crocodile
Strap length 125/185mm (extra-long)
Lug width 15mm (measured by the owner)
Buckle Classic, gold, 14mm

Why these choices

The length is the whole story. A stock Tank strap in this size class runs shy of 100/120mm; this build adds several centimeters to both sides, keeping the buckle centered on the wrist and the tail long enough to reach its keepers. Because every strap is cut individually, extra length costs a surcharge — not a compromise in how the strap is balanced.

The 15mm lug width matters just as much. Cartier's older ladies' references use in-between sizes that off-the-shelf straps skip entirely, and the owner did exactly the right thing: measured the lugs, wrote 15mm in the notes, and we cut to it, tapering to a 14mm gold Classic buckle that suits a vermeil case.

Navy crocodile keeps the watch formal without defaulting to black. Crocodile softens with wear and takes on a hand-rubbed patina, so a strap this long breaks in rather than staying stiff at the extra holes.

Questions from Tank owners

Where can I find an extra long strap for a Cartier Tank?

Made-to-order is realistically the only route. Because we cut each strap individually, length is just another measurement — this one ran 125/185mm, and our extra-long builds cover wrists from 8.5 to 12 inches. Give us your wrist size or a target length in the order notes.

How do I find my Tank's lug width?

Measure the gap between the lugs in millimeters with a ruler or calipers, as this owner did. Vintage Cartier references often use odd widths like 15mm — our configurator covers 8mm to 30mm, so there is no need to round to a standard size.

Every strap is made to order — allow 2–3 weeks to delivery. Start from the Cartier Tank Must strap page, browse our Cartier watch straps and extra-long watch straps, or build any combination as a custom leather watch strap.
