Orange dollaro watch strap for a 1970s Vulcain with asymmetric 27mm and 24mm lugs

Vintage Vulcain Strap in Orange Dollaro Leather

A 1970s Vulcain came in with a problem no stock strap solves: the two lugs are different widths, 27mm on one side and 24mm on the other. Off-the-shelf straps are cut to a single width, so the only fix is an asymmetric strap cut to each lug separately. We made this one in orange dollaro leather.

Strap specifications

Leather Orange dollaro
Lug width 27 mm (buckle side) / 24 mm (tip side), asymmetric
Strap length 75/125 mm (about 3.0 / 4.9 in)

Why these choices

The asymmetric cut is the reason this strap exists. When a case has two lug widths, a normal strap either gaps on the wide side or won't seat on the narrow one. We cut the buckle side to 27mm and the tip side to 24mm so each end fills its own lugs, then taper the rest so the change is not obvious on the wrist. This is the kind of fit you can't buy ready-made.

Dollaro is a veg-tanned leather with a uniform stamped pebble grain, consistent across the hide, structured and hard-wearing. The orange is a deliberate choice for a 1970s watch; period color suits the era better than a safe brown, and the pebble texture keeps it from looking flat.

At 75/125mm it fits a mid-size wrist, with regular spring bars to match the original fitment. Each strap is cut to the measurements you provide, so an unusual case is the rule rather than the exception here.

FAQ

Can you make a strap for a vintage watch with two different lug widths? Yes. We cut asymmetric straps where the buckle side and tip side are different widths, here 27mm and 24mm, so each lug is filled correctly.

What is dollaro leather? Dollaro is a veg-tanned leather with a uniform, stamped pebble grain. It is durable and holds its shape well, which suits a daily-worn vintage piece.
