Notched Strap for the Timex Expedition
Share
The Timex Expedition is a field watch made to be worn hard, but the case on this one holds the strap in a recessed opening that a straight-cut band can't fill. A stock strap either bridges the gap or won't seat at all, so the owner needed leather that steps in at the corners to meet the case. This build is a corner-notched black Swift strap for the Timex Expedition, cut to the watch's own measurements so the strap sits flush against the case rather than floating above it.

Why these choices
The corners of the strap end were notched to A 22 mm, B 15.5 mm and C 4 mm. On a corner-notched cut, the leather is taken in at each corner so it slots past the case shoulders — the same approach used for cases a standard band cannot fit, from integrated designs to vintage dress watches. A corner-notched strap is made to the figures taken off the watch, so we ask for the measurements and recommend a jeweler check them before cutting.
Black Swift calf suits a field watch worn day to day. Swift is a smooth calfskin with a deep, even color that sits softer than a stamped grain like Epsom, so it breaks in quickly and is comfortable from the first wear. The deep black also keeps the look quiet, which is what most Expedition owners want from a leather swap.
The strap was built to a 70/115 mm length, a shorter cut for a smaller wrist. You can order the same fit on the custom corner-notched strap page by sending your A, B and C measurements and choosing the leather.

FAQs
Can you make a notched strap for a Timex Expedition?
Yes. If your Expedition holds the strap in a recessed case, we cut a corner-notched strap to your A, B and C measurements so it fits. Send the figures and the leather you want.
Is Swift leather tough enough for a field watch?
Swift is a smooth calf that breaks in fast and wears well day to day. For the hardest use we can cut the same notch in a firmer leather — just ask.
