Center-Notched Strap for Vintage Gucci 2000L Watch
Some vintage Gucci women's watches were never meant to take a standard strap. When the case has a center lug, a straight-cut band either won't seat or leaves gaps on both sides. This order, from Arizona, was for a vintage Gucci the customer identified as the Model 2000L, and the fix was a center-notched strap cut to the case's own measurements.

Why These Choices
The notch is the whole job. A custom center-notched strap is built for cases that a standard band can't fit, and vintage dress watches like this Gucci are a common example. Instead of guessing from a catalog size, we cut the notch to three numbers the customer measured from the watch: X at 9.5 mm, Y at 2.5 mm and Z at 3.5 mm. Those are small dimensions, and a fraction of a millimeter matters at this scale, which is why we recommend having a jeweler take the measurements when the case is this delicate. The customer also mentioned the watch wasn't on our model list and tracked down the 2000L reference through their own research. That's fine. The notch is cut to the measurements, not to a model name, so an unlisted watch is not a problem.
Sharkskin for a small strap that gets handled a lot. On a strap this narrow, the leather has very little material to spare around the notch. Sharkskin is the toughest of the exotics we work with, with a dense, tooth-textured grain, which makes it a sensible pick for a strap that comes on and off a small watch often. In black, it stays quiet next to a small dial and lets the gold buckle stand out.
Small finishing details. The customer chose a gold buckle and a buckle end that tapers slightly, so the strap narrows gently toward the tip rather than running at full width. At 75 mm and 125 mm (2.95 in and 4.92 in), the lengths are our standard pairing, with the slight taper keeping the tail neat on the wrist.
