Notched Leather Strap for a Movado Watch
Share
A Movado in the Museum family runs a clean, slim case, and on a reference like the 84.C1.1481 a flat-ended strap tends to sit proud of the case instead of flush against it. Off-the-shelf replacements are almost all straight-cut, which leaves a small gap where the leather meets the watch. This build solved that with a center-notched black Epsom strap for the Movado: a tongue of leather is cut to step into the case opening so the strap meets the watch cleanly. It keeps the minimalist look the watch is known for.

Why these choices
The notch here is a center notch, measured X 23 mm, Y 16 mm and Z 3 mm. That pattern cuts a single tongue down the middle of the strap end so it slots into the case mouth, which is what a flat-ended band cannot do on a case like this. A center-notched strap is cut to the watch rather than to a stock size, so the figures have to come off the case itself; a jeweler can confirm them if you are unsure.
Black Epsom suits the watch's restraint. Epsom is a stamped-grain calfskin — the same leather Hermès uses on its bags — and it is light, holds its shape and resists scratches better than a smooth calf. On a dress watch that often slides under a cuff, that hard-wearing grain keeps the strap looking sharp.
The strap was built to an 85/135 mm length, a little longer than a standard cut, with the black leather finished to match the case. You can order the same fit from the center-notched strap page by sending your X, Y and Z figures.

FAQs
Can you make a notched strap for a Movado?
Yes. We cut a center- or corner-notched strap to your measurements so it fits a case a standard band cannot. Send the X, Y and Z figures from the watch and the leather you want.
How do I measure for a center notch?
Measure the full strap-end width (X), the width of the tongue (Y) and its depth (Z) in millimeters. If you are unsure, a jeweler can take the figures from the case in a minute.
