Barenia Strap for the Longines Spirit Zulu Time
Share
Most strap orders are about the leather. This one, from Florida, was about what to leave off. The customer runs the Longines Spirit Zulu Time on an Omega-style folding clasp and asked for “no strap loops or buckle cutout” — a clasp-only build in brown Barenia, cut for a wrist between 6.75 and 7 inches.

Why these choices
A folding clasp changes what the strap needs. The tail never passes through a keeper, so the two loops most straps carry become dead weight that props the leather away from the wrist — and the cutout normally punched for a pin buckle’s tongue has nothing to do. Removing both leaves a cleaner run of leather and a flatter sit. It is a small request that only makes sense if the strap is cut for one specific fastening, which is exactly what a made-to-order build is for.
The 75/115 mm length follows from the same decision. A clasp swallows leather on both sides, so a strap sized like a pin-buckle strap ends up with the tail hanging past the clasp. On a 6.75 to 7 inch wrist, 190 mm of total leather with a deployant is the right amount — noticeably shorter than the 75/125 mm we would cut for the same wrist on a buckle.
Barenia suits a field-and-travel watch better than a dress calf would. It is hot-stuffed leather with equestrian origins, traditionally water-resistant, and it takes daily wear without looking fussy about it. Flat construction with matching side stitching keeps the profile low under the case, and quick-release bars let the owner move between this and the bracelet without tools.

“I ordered the blue ostrich strap with a deployant clasp for my 1968 Longines Ultra Chron and it is beautiful. Beyond all my expectations. You can see and feel the handmade quality.”

Questions we get on this build
Can you make a Barenia strap for a Longines Spirit Zulu Time without keepers?
Yes. Tell us in the order notes that you are running a deployant and we will leave the loops and the buckle cutout off, then cut the length for the clasp rather than a pin buckle.
Will my own clasp fit?
Send the width of the clasp end. Many owners keep a clasp they already like and use ours as the spare — that is what happened here. Clasp width and lug width are separate measurements, so give us both.
Every strap is made to order — allow 2 to 3 weeks to delivery. Start from this brown Barenia build or set your own dimensions in the custom strap configurator.
